A lot of people out there have been married for years, and counting. The meaning of marriage and relationships can change with the passing of time and living life together as husband and wife.
A Good Husband makes its entrance as the spiritual successor to “A Good Wife”, and aims to blatantly make spouses ponder upon the implications and habitual activities of marriage.
As suggested from the very title, you are in control of the husband and, as you arrive home confronted with regular tasks, the same old scenario takes place. You soon identify a lot of truths evoked, underlining the tolerance levels, in accordance with rights and wrongs committed on both sides. It's pretty fun and interesting to see how the kaboodle of marriage monotony, a nagging wife and your actions manifest themselves. Nevertheless, a couple of outcomes can be predictable and anticlimactic.
Activities mostly consist of household chores and personal decisions that determine your score and reputation with the spouse. It offers some replay value, even if just for the laughs and satisfaction of curiosity.
It all happens on the intimacy of your porch and house, a context rendered with blunt and clunky 3D visuals, a couple of clipping, field of view camera bugs, as well as clumsy handling of the world in front of you. Movement is made by arrow keys or the classic “WASD”, spacebar and left-click take action, while right-click toggles first and third person view.
A Good Husband is fairly taxing on system resources, despite what is delivered. CPU and GPU temperatures rose quite high in our tests, as well as fan speeds. The effects and music (when applicable) sound a bit distorted, the capture reveals an overall amateur, or rudimentary means to this end.
Cutscenes last for a pretty long time and cannot be skipped. Modifying the resolution and quality of the textures doesn't necessarily make much of an improvement over framerates and performance.
A Good Husband is clearly not a polished game, and its rather made from a satirical point of view on marriage. It can be fun, revolting, or way too predictable. Regardless of the interpretation, anyone can learn or at least get his/her attention caught by this experience.
