Arava Writepad

Arava Writepad is a multi-tabbed text editor similar to Windows Notepad, enabling you to open and edit plain text, XML, NFO, LUA, AATT (Arvin Soft Text Transport), AAXT and OPLS (Open Player Playlist) files.

It caters to users looking for a straightforward word processor without complicated options or customization preferences.

The entire program's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be dropped anywhere on the PC or stored on a USB flash drive, in order to run Arava Writepad on any machine directly. Just make sure to have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with its help.

It doesn't create files on the disk without your confirmation, or add new entries to the system registry. A classical file deletion is enough to get rid of it. However, it doesn't remember your settings on exit.

The multi-tabbed GUI has a simple design and layout that drops any rich options. You can open files to cut, copy, paste, select and delete text, click hyperlinks to visit URLs in your default web browser, undo and redo actions, resort to a basic search function, change the text color and font settings (e.g. style, size, script), as well as open tabs in new windows.

Modified files can be saved only with the TXT, XML, NFO and LUA extension. Keyboard shortcuts are supported, while the file and edit toolbars can be hidden. The status bar reveals the current date and time.

Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, it worked smoothly on newer Windows versions in our tests, without hanging, crashing or indicating errors. As we expected, it had minimal impact on system performance, running on low CPU and RAM.

To conclude, Arava Writepad is a clear-cut text editor with basic options and support for multiple tabs. It's easy to use and free.
