Natural disasters can strike out of nowhere, even in the apparent calm of the undersea floor. When a lava pit starts emitting poisonous vapors that put the lives of fish and other aquatic lifeforms at risk, you must step up and deal with the problem before it is too late.
While the premise may sound quite ambitious, Atlantic Quest 2: The New Adventures is a relatively simple match-three game. However, its fast-paced gameplay is very exciting and should keep you glued to your monitor until you complete the numerous levels.
Your main goal in Atlantic Quest 2 is to match three or more identical objects, causing them to disappear from the table. However, the combinations can be created in multiple ways, depending on your preferred playing style.
In ‘Swap’ mode, you can, as you probably already guessed, swap two adjacent objects in order to create a line of three or more identical tiles.
Things become more complicated and, arguably, more exciting in ‘Chains’ mode, as you can drag the mouse cursor horizontally, vertically or diagonally over three or more items.
The ‘Groups’ mode is comparatively simple, as you only need to find clusters of three or more objects and click on them.
Because you can switch between the playing modes at any time, it is possible to use different tactics to deal with various situations.
Moreover, your companions can help you out with their abilities, which are powered by items you can acquire during each level.
To keep things interesting throughout, Atlantic Quest 2 also includes a few optional puzzles. One of them, for example, requires you to spot all the missing pieces that make up a useful object.
The game’s graphics are certainly nothing special, but this should in no way make it less entertaining.
The sound effects are well chosen, and the soundtrack is pleasant, if somewhat repetitive.
Overall, Atlantic Quest 2: The New Adventures has all the necessary ingredients to be a good choice for any fan of match-three games. If you want to relax for a few hours and solve some challenging puzzles, you should definitely try it out.
