Bitly URL Shortener

Bitly URL Shortener is a straightforward app specially made for desktops, laptops, notebooks and tablets running Windows 10, 8 and 8.1, which can reduce the length of copied URLs with the help of the Bitly online service.

This way, you can easily share links with your friends and followers as well as manage a collection with favorite webpages, without having to deal with long URLs.

Since it uses the Bitly service, the application requires an active Internet connection to be able to perform the conversion. It's signed by Microsoft, so you can quickly download and install it from the Windows Store with just one click.

It gets launched in a large window with a simplistic Modern UI. All you have to do is copy a link from the web browser and paste it inside the empty box of Bitly URL Shortener, then click the Shorten button.

The task is performed almost instantly. Afterward, you can right-click somewhere on the screen to bring up a horizontal, light blue bar on the bottom part of the window and copy the shortened link to the Clipboard.

When someone will access it, they will get automatically redirected to the corresponding webpage and view the original URL. It's also possible to log into Bitly to be able to keep track of all your shortened links, using a Bitly, Facebook or Twitter account.

It would've been more convenient to copy the shortened link by clicking a button right next to it. In the way implemented by Bitly URL Shortener, you have to make an extra click and then go to the lower-right corner of the window to copy.

From this point of view, the Bitly website is easier to use than this app. Also, we would have liked to be able to paste multiple URLs into this tool, in order to shorten all of them at once.

All things considered, Bitly URL Shortener offers a simple solution for shortening websites using Bitly, but we see no advantages when comparing it to the web UI.
