Change Folder Icons is a Windows software tool developed to help you change the icon of any folder your computer with just a few clicks.

You may not know where to start at the first glance and that’s because the interface is a bit cluttered and there are buttons everywhere you look.

Well, the multi-panel layout is actually supposed to lend you a hand when using the program, so just take a minute to figure out which feature is which.

The application provides a dedicated panel for browsing local disks, thus enabling you to choose any folder with ease. It’s enough to select the folder, input the path to the new icon and you are ready to go.

What’s more, Change Folder Icons comes with an advanced search utility to look for icons in your computer, but also with separated tools for exporting all icons from a file in order to use them all at a later time.

The program works okay on most Windows versions, but we’ve noticed some problems during our testing on Windows 7.

While Change Folder Icons launches okay with administrator privileges, it sometimes returns errors all of a sudden, although it doesn’t crash and continues to run smoothly. It does manage to change folder icons, but keep in mind that administrator privileges are required.

Overall, Change Folder Icons is an interesting solution if you really wish to change a folder icon. Although it doesn’t comprise the most attractive interface in the world, it still helps the app get the job done and, as always, a help manual waits to lend you a hand at any time.
