ColeType

ColeType is an educational tool that enables you to get used to blind typing by watching the animated buttons on a virtual keyboard that stays on your desktop. The application is designed to help you learn touch typing for several kinds of keyboard configurations. Thus, you can easily switch between the Qwerty, Devorak and Colemak displays.

ColeType is easy to use, lightweight and highly educational. It displays the user input by activating the animation of each key that is pressed. In other words, it can read translate the pressing of a key and light the correspondent symbol on the desktop keyboard.

The software can display one of three key configurations: the classic Qwerty style, Devorak or Colemak. The Devorak design is meant to offer the typist comfort, ensure high productivity and easy learning. Colemak is especially created for efficient and ergonomic typing in the English language.

By allowing you to visualize the keys you press without taking your eyes away from the screen, the software can help you learn how to blind type. ColeType allows you to customize the virtual keyboard as you wish, by allowing it to always stay on top of other windows, resize or relocate it. Moreover, you can enable the guidelines, a function which consists of displaying each key in a color that corresponds to a certain finger. For example, the keys in the middle of the display are easily accessible if pressed with the pointer finger. Also, you can enable transparency, as well as add or remove the borders.
