Every activity you start has to end some time. Some might work better under pressure, while others prefer to plan ahead, which is a good thing if you want to avoid and unforeseen events. What’s more, using applications like Deadline Manager make it a lot easier to plan your tasks, and be alerted when not much time is left until the deadline.
The application doesn’t come with any examples or preset libraries. However, the overall layout and structure of the workspace you use is intuitive enough, and lets anyone accommodate in a jiffy. Most of the space shows tasks you create, with the possibility to edit corresponding fields on the spot.
In order to see what the application can do for you, one or more tasks need to be created. The task form window can be filled in with four types of details, such as inputs, reminders, files, and comments. The first is related to general details, and is also equipped with a few mandatory fields, while the other detail sets can be ignored.
Apart from name and date, you can write down details like group, individual responsible for finishing the task, support, priority, status, and completion percentage. For more efficiency, it’s best to pay a visit to the reminder tab, but the set of options is pretty shallow, with no customizable messages or audio alerts to configure.
When the list of tasks is done, you can minimize the application to tray and attend to those tasks. Sadly, there’s no option to make the application run with Windows. In case you want to create a report based on your actions, export options let you generate XLS, HTML, DOC, TXT, RTF, CSV, DIF, and SYLK files.
Bottom line is that regardless of your work style, it’s best to at least have a visual plan and reminders of due times, because you can’t always rely on your memory for everything you have to do. In this regard Deadline Manager comes with a decent amount of tools, and is easy to use by individuals of all levels of experience, but it feels a little rough around the edges overall.
