Slideshows in PPT format have long since lost their monopoly, and people are coming up with new ways of playing presentations, preferably as independently as possible of the host system’s specifications.
One noteworthy option is Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite, which also supports presentations. To help you migrate from Microsoft PowerPoint to DPS, you can resort on DPS Export for PowerPoint, an add-in allowing you to convert your slideshows with a couple of clicks.
The tool comes in the shape of an executable, which when installed, will integrate into the ribbon of PowerPoint, enabling you to have easy access to it and use it freely.
The ‘DPS Export’ tab of in the ribbon displays three buttons, namely ‘Preview’, ‘Upload’ and ‘Account’, letting you work with whichever you need at a particular moment.
Practically, to convert your slideshow to DPS, you can just open it in Microsoft PowerPoint, and then switch to the add-in’s dedicated tab. The ‘Account’ button enables you to enter your credentials for the Digital Publishing Suite, then connect, thus allowing you to upload your file when the task is complete.
The ‘Preview’ button open an ‘Export’ window where you can customize the conversion preferences, namely folio and publication name, folio number and author. You can opt for a ‘Target Device’ from a dedicated menu, for a predefined set of dimensions, or you can customize the width and height of the file.
Moreover, DPS Export for PowerPoint lets you ‘Enable Right-Edge Binding’ as well as ‘Enable Interactive Elements’, by checking the corresponding boxes. Finally, you can press the ‘OK’ button and after a brief moment, during which your task is processed, the file will be opened in ‘Adobe Content Viewer’, allowing you to browse through it. It is also uploaded to your account, provided that you have specified the username and password.
DPS Export for PowerPoint is a useful and practical add-in that can come in handy whenever you need to work with DPS folios rather than PPT slideshows, as it can convert them with minimal effort entailed.
