DxWrapper

DxWrapper is not an application in the true sense, but rather a library of DLL files that act like wrappers for the DirectX files responsible for running older games on newer Windows versions. More precisely, the tool is mostly for Windows 10 users running old games and that are experiencing various issues with the video and sound.

Applying the fixes is a simple and straightforward process that entails dropping the DLL and INI files in the game folder. Then again, after decompressing the archive, take a look and determine which DLL file is needed for the game and copy it to the game directory folder next to the executable. Afterwards, open the corresponding INI file in your preferred editor and enable the settings needed for the game. As you probably hinted, the tool converts older files to the latest version of DirectDraw 7, Direct3D 7 or DirectDraw, for instance.

As far as compatibility goes, the tool should work with most old-school games as it has been tested with hundreds of games. However, the developer provides a list of games where the fixes should work without any issues, list that includes names such as BloodRayne 2, Deadlock II, Diablo, Far Cry, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum, just to name a few.
