Nowadays, computers are our storage vaults for personal data and business-related information as well, so it only makes sense to be concerned about data security. Taking additional measures to make sure sensitive information does not end up in the wrong hands is mandatory.
Aiming to protect sensitive data from prying eyes, Encryptability allows you to create virtual encrypted disks on local, shared or removable hard drives. Virtual encrypted disks are password-protected, meaning they can securely store sensitive information and protect it from unauthorized access.
Working with Encryptability is pretty intuitive. The main window comprises an organized table that hosts all the encrypted disks. As mentioned above, Encryptability provides support for drives of any type, removable or not, and of any format (NTFS, exFAT, FAT32).
Creating a new virtual encrypted disk requires you to go through the built-in wizard, which guides you step-by-step all the way. First, you are prompted to assign a name to the new virtual encrypted disk. Next, you are required to choose the host folder. It is also possible to make the disk hidden and change the default folder icon at this point, turning it into the Encryptability’s icon.
You are free to adjust the size of the virtual encrypted drive and select the file system to use. The empty space in the target disk can also be encrypted, but keep in mind that this process is slow and takes a while to complete. Also, the host file can be split into multiple segments of a predefined size. You are advised to select MB as the size unit for maximum precision.
The virtual disks created by Encryptability are protected by a password of your choice, using the industry-standard AES standard. The wizard allows you to create a spare key, much like a master password, which makes it possible to access the contents of the virtual encrypted disk when the initial password is not known, is lost or forgotten.
Encryptability can help you secure your most sensitive information stored on the PC, as it encrypts the contents of the virtual disk it creates. The files there cannot be accessed unless the correct password is entered. When you are done working with the files on the encrypted drive and disconnect the encrypted drive or shut down the PC, Encryptability locks the data automatically.
