Few things are worse for your eyes than staring at a computer screen for hours on end, but we often forget to take breaks when we have something important to do or are simply having too much fun.
Eyes' Thanks can remind you that a break is due by displaying a full-screen image from a gallery provided by the user. It supports multiple monitors and it is very unobtrusive, as well as easy to configure.
While some backgrounds are included, it is probably best to provide the application with a more extensive gallery stored locally. If you prefer, you can even write a short message that should be displayed when a break is due.
The break interval and duration are fully customizable. One of the images in the user-defined folder will be displayed in full-screen mode for the configured duration, but you can cancel the break if you just can’t afford to interrupt your current activity.
If you frequently switch between two displays with different aspect ratios, you can set up an alternative pictures folder that the program should use whenever the main monitor is disconnected.
Eyes' Thanks even supports multiple monitors, making it possible to display wide pictures across all your displays when taking a break.
The application runs in the system tray, and you can pause the timer easily by just middle-clicking the notification area icon. You can even trigger a break manually at any time.
It is also worth mentioning that the program does not require installation, and user configurations are only stored in the root folder, making it possible to use the app on the go.
In conclusion, Eyes' Thanks is an interesting utility for users who have trouble tearing themselves away from their PCs. It can remind you to take breaks every once in a while, reducing the negative effects of eye strain.
