Smartphones are not always reliable for keeping your address book, since you can easily lose your contacts if your device gets lost or stolen, or if the data becomes corrupt.

Besides backing up your contacts to the cloud, you can keep a digital address book on your computer to be prepared for any scenario.

A Windows application that can do this without complicated features and any fuss is Figerty Contacts.

It's not by any means a personal information manager but it provides you with the necessary and sufficient options for adding contacts and creating an offline database.

.NET Framework is a mandatory program that has to be operational on your computer in order to work with the address book manager.

Other than that, the tool gets installed painlessly, and it adopts a plain-looking interface. Although it's not visually striking, the overall simplicity of the layout makes it quite approachable.

Adding a contact to the initially empty database can be done by filling in the person's first and last name, phone number, email address and comments.

It's possible to add as many contacts as you want, even if they are duplicates. If you click the "Save" button, the address book will be saved to the application and opened in the main window at the next launch.

To save it to file, you can click "Export to Excel" from the "File" menu. It doesn't actually create an .xls file but a .csv one instead, which is automatically created in the root drive as "Contacts.csv".

Unfortunately, the developer doesn't give you the possibility to change the default output folder and file name.

Since C: is typically the Windows partition, this means that you have to run Figerty Contacts with administrative privileges. This also means that contacts cannot be saved by non-admin PC users, which isn't fair when considering the tool's elementary purpose.

Several errors popped up in our tests when attempting to open the help file or check the software version, as well as when trying to save contacts in C: without admin privileges.

Other than that, we haven't encountered any functionality issues with Figerty Contacts. It's not great but can be effortlessly used for creating simple contacts lists.
