FileNotz

FileNotz is a handy tool for keeping track of important notes and comments about your files. You know how sometimes you want to add a little extra info to a file? Well, some formats let you do that, like JPEG images which have a comments field, but that’s not super common. Most file types can actually handle notes without messing up the file, and that’s where FileNotz really shines!

Getting Started with FileNotz

To kick things off with FileNotz, just double-click the main executable to open it up. Once it's running, right-click anywhere on the note’s window. A menu will pop up, giving you options to add FileNotz to your context menu in Windows or even toss it into the “Send To” menu. Super easy!

How to Attach Notes

If you want to attach a note to a file, just right-click on that file and select “Open FileNotz” from the right-click menu. You can also drag and drop the file onto an open FileNotz window or shortcut! If there are existing notes linked to that file, FileNotz will show them right away. If not, no worries—you can easily create and edit your own notes for whatever info you need.

Using Files with Notes

The great thing about files that have attached notes is that they work just like any other file! You can run them, copy or move them around, zip them up in an archive, send them via email—whatever you need! Just keep in mind if you make any changes that require re-saving or overwriting the file, those added notes won’t stick around unless you set the file as read-only.

A Quick Heads Up

While you're using FileNotz, everything works smoothly with your files as usual. But remember: if a file is currently in use, FileNotz won’t be able to update it! So plan accordingly when you're working with multiple files.
