Flex Air Web Browser

Currently, the main gateway to the information superhighway is still the web browser. There are various alternatives at your disposal in case you’re looking for something to suit just your basic needs. Even Windows has its own, but third-party programs like Flex Air Web Browser might just be right for a clean experience.

Before you can even get the application deployed on your computer, it’s a good idea to make sure that Adobe AIR is already on your PC. Installation takes little time and effort, with the last step even offering to launch the application for you.

Right from the start you notice that the application might not really be fitted to fulfill advanced navigation tasks. Even the visual design leaves much to be desired, with an abundance of placeholders instead of basic elements, such as window management or even navigation buttons.

As a whole, the experience is similar to any web browser. You start off by providing the target URL in the upper toolbar, while content is delivered in most of the space. However, even this space is somewhat limited. The window can’t be resized, but it already occupies most, if not all of your screen.

In terms of navigation controls, you find only basic functions to go back and forth, reload, or stop loading a page. On the other hand, there is a built-in search bar which provides Google results. Bookmarks can’t be saved, and there’s no history tracker or favorites manager to help with frequently visited pages. You do benefit from multiple tabs.

Bottom line is that choosing a web browser is just a matter of trying out the products on the market. Unfortunately, Flex Air Web Browser doesn’t manage to live up to expectations, offering a poor choice wrapped around in what seems and feels like a heavily unfinished product.
