Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger Design is a handy Windows app that makes it super easy to analyze thermal data and do calculations for gasketed plate heat exchangers. It even comes with a unit converter and a database filled with fouling factors, heat transfer coefficients, and more!
The only thing you need to remember during installation is that this tool needs the .NET Framework to run. Once you're done setting it up, you’ll land right on the main app window where you can kick off a new design by tweaking some settings.
You can customize all sorts of details like the component name, temperature range, and flow rates for both hot and cold sides. Plus, you get to adjust physical properties like specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity, viscosity, density, fouling factor, and maximum pressure drop. You can either let the software calculate the heat load or input it manually!
Next up is previewing your design! Here’s where you input lots of cool data like geometrical parameters—think port diameter, plate thickness, channel spacing—along with details about the plate manufacturer, type and material. You can also choose gasket materials and connections while setting up your frame type.
Based on everything you've entered so far, Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger Design will whip up average temperatures for both sides (hot and cold), calculate the heat load, log mean temperature difference, number of transfer units based on max temperature differences, and figure out the surface area using correction factors.
You’ll also find helpful calculations focusing on plate pitch—like compressed plate pack length and channel spacing—as well as dealing with distilled or raw water (mass flow per channel or velocity). And yes! You can summarize your design easily too; print it out or save it as an Excel file or image.
The program lets you switch measurement units between SI (metric) or US (imperial), plus conversion options between many unit types such as area or density. You can check out overall heat transfer coefficients along with material thermal conductivity info from various manufacturers too!
This tool ran smoothly during our tests on Windows 10. It used minimal system resources while performing calculations quickly without any hiccups.
All things considered, Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger Design offers a user-friendly interface packed with practical options and a rich database for anyone wanting to dive into thermal analysis and calculations!
