Hairless MIDISerial Bridge is a super handy app that helps you connect your serial devices, like Arduinos, to send and receive MIDI signals without any fuss. It really simplifies the whole process!
To kick things off, just double-click on the Hairless MIDISerial Bridge icon to launch it. Make sure your serial MIDI device is plugged in if it's not already connected.
Next up, go to the menu and select Preferences. Check that your serial settings are correct. The default settings are usually at 115200bps with no flow control. Don’t forget to pick your serial port from the “Serial port” dropdown menu!
If you're ready to get some music flowing, open up the music app that you want to use for sending or receiving MIDI data. Make sure it's set to send or receive MIDI data—if it’s not already enabled, you might want to adjust that. Then, in your app's MIDI dropdown menu, select the right MIDI port (and for Windows users, remember to connect both sides to the same MIDI Yoke virtual MIDI port).
If you ever need to disable the bridge for any reason, just uncheck the “SerialMIDI Bridge” option at the top of the window.
This app makes working with MIDI and serial devices a breeze! So give it a try and see how easy it can be!
