Headlines To Speech is a super simple software designed just for Windows 8.1 users. Its main job? To read news headlines out loud for you! How cool is that?
The app has a really basic user interface. When you open it up, you’ll see the latest news from different sources right there on the main screen.
You can choose your preferences through two menus: ‘Country’ and ‘Language’. Just pick what you want and hit ‘Play’ to start listening!
This handy tool can grab news from tons of countries like the USA, Australia, France, Belgium, Canada, Spain, UK, Germany, China, India, Poland, Switzerland, and more! It pulls in stories from popular news agencies like CNN, Reuters, Fox News, Spiegel, and Le Monde.
But here’s a little downside: you can’t pick just one source for your headlines or add your own feed. That means you get a mix of everything without much control.
You can listen in different languages too! Options include English, French, Italian, Spanish, German—you name it! However, you won’t find options to change the Microsoft Voice or adjust things like speech rate or volume.
If something catches your ear and you want to read more about it—just click on the headline! The full article will pop up in your web browser in split view. But keep this in mind: Headlines To Speech can't read those web pages for you. Plus if you're not focused on the program anymore? The news stops playing.
In short, Headlines To Speech is pretty useful but has some limits when it comes to features. While it does its job well enough as a text-to-speech tool for headlines, there’s definitely room for improvement before it can stand toe-to-toe with other TTS software out there!
