Twitch has a community that is, for better or for worse, one of the highlights of the platform. Hop into a decently populated livestream, and you'll see lots of users speaking in a language almost specific to the streaming platform. As such, the chat can be confidently used to gauge the overall reception to a moment in the livestream, but how can you do that exactly?
Hype can be a helpful aide in that sense, as it can generate message graphs for your favorite streamers' VODs. Through these graphs, users will be able to gauge the overall reception to the stream and find the best moments.
The philosophy behind such a software is simple, and the implementation is quite good. By scanning the messages from a given VOD, the tool is able to recognize the best moments based on emote streaks. As Twitch emotes are often used to express an emotion or reaction, being able to detect concurrent messages of a specific emote within a given timestamp can help quantify chat's reaction to a stream's moments.
It doesn't take long for the tool to scan all the messages and provide a graph. The graph itself is interactive, so you should be able to go through it and navigate to the peak moments with ease. You can also shrink the timeline to a more conservative timestamp for a more focused experience.
What's more, it's also possible to use audio levels to get to the more tense moments in a stream. The volume graph provides you with decibel values, and will make it easy for you to recognize the more animated parts of a stream.
If it's a stream you really enjoyed, you might want to download its VOD. This can be done by clicking the gear icon, which will take you to a settings menu of sorts. Select your preferred video quality, and you'll be able to download your VOD without a problem. It's also possible only to download the audio part of a stream.
You also have the option to modify some of the message graph's parameters. More specifically, you can set a time interval more to your liking, and establish message and volume thresholds.
Hype is an overall simple tool, but it does well to provide users with an environment in which they can find the best moments of a given stream with ease.
