Jnix is a handy tool that helps you wrap jar files in shell scripts for easy deployment on Linux and Unix systems. It’s also great as a launcher script for those jar files!
If you want to use this command line utility, the first step is to create a Launch4J configuration file. You can either do this manually or use the Launch4J graphical user interface (GUI).
To make your wrapper or launcher for a jar file, just open up your terminal and head over to the Jnix installation directory. Then, type this command:
java -jar JnixBuild.jar "path to launch4j configuration file"
If Java isn’t in your path, don’t worry! You can still run it by providing the full path to Java. Just enter:
sh ./jnix.sh -jar JnixBuild.jar "path to launch4j configuration file"
This way, Jnix will find the right version of Java for you.
