KDE4 Panel Configurator is a cool tool that lets you change the color of your Plasma panel in KDE4. If you're looking to add a splash of color, this is the way to go! To get started, check out the instructions in the readme files included with the download. And just a heads up—make sure to log back in after you set your new color.
Ready to install? Here’s what you need to do:
cd < path_to_app >
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX= < here_you_must_write_your_KDE_installation_directory,_for_example_/usr/lib/kde4_etc. >
make
sudo make install
After you've installed it, you'll want to copy the "default" plasma theme from < kde_installation_dir >/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme to < kde_home_dir(e.g. /home/user/.kde4/) >/share/apps/desktoptheme. Make sure to rename it to "kpc". Now, you'll need to set it as your current theme. You can do this using a special tool or by editing < kde_home_dir >/share/config/plasmarc. Just change the line that says theme=default to theme=kpc.
If you’re excited about customizing your KDE environment, don’t wait! Check out more details and download it from KDE4 Panel Configurator here!
