Office 42 is a lightweight software bundle that comes with support for a text editor, web browser and personal organizer.
The tool welcomes you with a minimalist panel that allows you to create new documents or import data. On the downside, you do not know which button you need to press for triggering a certain action because they are not translated into English.
The built-in text editor offers support for basic features for helping you alter the text. You can perform clipboard-related functions (cut, copy, paste), undo or redo your actions, find and replace data, as well as count the total number of words and spaces comprised in the current document.
What’s more, you are given the freedom to clone the selected text, import data from plain text or CSV file format, and export the edited text to DOC, CSV, TXT, or RTF file format.
You can adjust the text in terms of font, font style, size, and color, change the background color, paste photos from the clipboard directly in the text editing window, and choose between several predefined themes for the background. You may insert notes and various shapes (e.g. rectangles, circles, triangles).
The browser looks very simplistic and poor in settings. You can input website addresses, go to the previous or next webpage, and create up to five bookmarks. These are the only notable features that you can activate while working with the web browser. There’s no support for a private browsing mode, data synchronization across multiple devices, and cookie deletion options, just to name some advanced options.
Office 42 gives you the possibility to verify your email, create notes, set up a to-do list, as well as gain access to a calendar. Email messages can be checked for Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo!, and other custom email clients.
Other important features worth being mentioned enable you to set note priorities, save the list with notes to CSV file format, as well as simply access the content of a calendar.
The final verdict is that Office 42 looks and feels like is still in the works. The utilities that are comprised in the package do not impress much in the visual department and lack advanced features. There’s also support for a portable version of the program, called Office 42 Portable.
