Start Everywhere

Generally speaking, the Start Menu is a nice option as it enables you to quickly access all of the applications and documents that you need to use on a regular basis. While overall useful, sometimes it can be daunting to scroll down to find the exact program or file you need.

As the name suggests, Start Everywhere is an alternative to classic counterpart of Windows that provides a unique solution to launch the apps installed on your computer.

The application is portable and hence, you do not need to install it, but rather just launch it and place it in a convenient location on your desktop. By default, the tool allows quick access to the directories you are likely to access, namely Programs, My Documents or User Profile, for instance.

However, the app supports a lot of customization and hence, you can select the precise folders to be accessed by the app. Once you configure the favorite directories, you can have instant access to the installed documents, media, applications and computer settings. Not only is the data displayed in an alphabetical list, but you can also sort them by date, a feature that can help you find the latest files faster.

A further noteworthy feature is that you can set the maximum number of items and their starting folders so that you do not waste time scrolling to find the one you need. All items can be access via clicks or alternatively, with active corners or hotkeys, which you can configure form the Settings window.

In the eventuality that the embedded start menu of Windows 7, 8 or 10 is simply not working for you and would like something more versatile that allows you to create shortcuts to the folders, apps and documents you use frequently, then perhaps Start Everywhere might be worth a try.
