Tags 2 Folders

Tags 2 Folders is a lightweight and portable piece of software designed to help users easily sort audio tracks in batch mode by taking into account their tag information. It comes packed with handy and advanced settings.

As there is no setup pack involved, you can drop the program files in any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to launch the tool. There is also the possibility to save it to a USB flash disk or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.

Worth taking into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the disk without permission, leaving it clean after removal.

The GUI is represented by a regular window with a plain and simple layout. Tags 2 Folders does not put too much emphasis on looks, preferring to let users immediately handled the configuration process.

You can point out the folder with containing audio tracks and specify a new one to save the sorted files in. It is possible to apply recursion when processing the source folder, ask the tool to show the destination directory on task completion and exit, preserve the file modification time attribute for the new items, as well as move the files into the destination folder instead of creating new ones. As far as tag options are concerned, you can use preset file naming patterns and insert new ones.

The tool does not put a strain on computer performance, since it runs on low CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and worked smoothly during our tests, without triggering Windows to hang, crash or pop up error messages. On the other hand, its interface could use a new design, and the options are a little difficult to figure out by inexperienced users. Otherwise, Tags 2 Folders serves its purpose.
