Time is one of the most important resources we are equally given. A proper management of this resource propels us towards success, with an easy way to do this being to split it in tasks. This is where applications such as Todomoo come in handy, putting a simple environment at your disposal to keep track and manage your day-to-day activities.
After a short and uneventful installation, you can run it to see what it's all about. The design is pretty intuitive, with most space displaying your tasks, while the upper toolbar and context menu let you quickly create new ones or manage existing entries. If it tickles your fancy, there's also a portable version you can use on the go.
Sooner or later you are forced into adding a new task, since there's nothing else to do and this is the core function. A new window pops up, holding editable categories in tabs like task, dates and time, payment, as well as notes. Little effort is required on your behalf, with a few text fields and drop-down menus helping you easily set up parameters.
By filling in name, description, attributing a color and priority, you're halfway done. None of them are mandatory so it's enough to simply add a name. However, you can take your time and specify start, due and completion date, as well as enabling a timer to know how much effort you put in its development.
Ass soon as you hit the “Add” button, the dashboard displays the task along with its corresponding details like name, priority, date related fields, timer, price and notes. In case you consider a task takes too long, you can divide it into sub-tasks, which you can then collapse or expand for a better view.
Flexibility is enhanced by options to add categories. These are cleverly stored in tabs, displayed with corresponding name and a color of your choice. There's also a general category to go through all of them. Sorting is possible and done by clicking on the criteria of your choice.
What keeps it from aiding you in business related tasks is the lack of an alert system. It's sad to see there's no such implemented feature, considering you get to use a timer. What's more, you can leave the application hidden in the system tray, which further contributes as a reason why a scheduler would have come in handy.
Todomoo is a decent time management application overall, suitable for small tasks, leisure and day-to-day activities. It can be used by anyone thanks to its cleverly simple interface and the intuitive task creation screen. Fields put at your disposal are more than enough to satisfy most needs and although it does not come with a scheduler, it deserves a try.
