File and folder management is a task that can be easily accomplished with default Windows features. However, depending on what your intentions are, it can get time-consuming, especially if you need to analyze size of multiple folders. Luckily, you can completely rely on specialized applications like TreePie to show folder size in a neat way.

Just to grab your attention from the start, the application skips the whole setup process, because it doesn’t need to be installed in order to function. This means you can use it on other computers as well, without worrying that the target system is affected, since registries are not a dependency.

When launched, a small, regular folder tree open dialog shows up, so you can select the directory or drive you want to scan. This is the application’s main purpose after all, but be prepared to wait a bit of time after selection, especially if you decide to target a large volume with sophisticated folder structures.

Once analyzed, a neatly designed pie chart shows up, letting you take a closer look at the folder structures in the target directory in a cool style. You might wonder why the need to patiently wait for folders to be analyzed, but hovering the cursor over a folder instantly reveal its size, and it’s not something that can be easily accomplished, not even by Windows default features.

There’s the possibility to navigate in the same style, further going down the structure. You can have a folder opened in File Explorer. Unfortunately, there’s no way you can index locations, so you need to wait every time, and changing the target directory means you need to run the application again.

TreePie comes with a cool, neat concept in mind, that allows you to visualize folder structure to analyze size. However, it feels a little rough around the edges, with multiple, long waiting times, and no zoom options, which makes it a bit difficult to navigate in, especially in complex structures.
