Programs are based on dozens of lines of well-written code which makes it possible for your computer to understand input. It's recommended to take the application out for a test or review the code for possible errors, before offering it to the public. In this regard, specialized tools like VisualCodeGrepper let you import various programming language files to analyze code and get detailed reports regarding the project's integrity.
The application supports a large variety of programming language projects, such as C / C++, Java, PL / SQL, C#, Visual Basic and PHP. However, in order for the application to properly identify and analyze the code you need to specify the language used. You can either set it as a default value, or choose to manually set it each time, in case used for more types.
Depending on the type and complexity of your project, the application lets you import individual files or target a whole directory for its content. What's more, you can choose to simply import result sheets found either under the CSV or XML file format.
Amongst the possible operations, the application lets you trigger a scan process for code or comment breakdown, bad functions, comments only, just the code itself or a full scan. Once the process is put in motion, a new window is quickly brought up with a chard displaying each component for better analysis.
A list is also displayed to view each project along with possible errors, number of comments, lines of code, percentage of the whole project and potentially unsafe flags and bits of code. Unfortunately, you can only open projects in Notepad, with no possibility to assign a corresponding code editor.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that VisualCodeGrepper is a practical application overall and comes in handy for programmers who want to better keep track of large projects. Support for multiple languages increases flexibility, while tools you get to work with give you a hint on whether or not your code needs more tweaking.
