If you are using the official Instagram app on the Windows Store, then you are probably quite disappointed. Although now you can post photos and videos to your feed and profile from the app, it somehow still feels like more of a viewer than a native app with all of its rich capabilities.

In case you need to use Instagram from desktop, perhaps to take advantage of the bigger screen, then you can consider some of the unofficial apps out there, such as Wingo Tag, for instance.

Unlike the official version, the app includes the menu on the left side, so you can easily access menus such as Home, Activities, Explore, Directs or even upload a post more conveniently. The menu can be hidden with a click of a button whenever you don’t need it. You can easily switch between light and dark themes, or allow it to borrow your current system’s default theme.

From the same left panel, you can access the Settings and customize the looks and feel of Instagram. You can force show users, hashtags and other elements in three columns or opt for a staggered view for the content. Moreover, you can change the playback quality, a feature that can be useful if you have a metered connection.

Other noteworthy features include turning off the Auto-play for videos, which can be bothersome at some point, especially if you’re just scrolling through your feed. You can remove the advertisements in home page feed for pages you didn’t follow.
