Creating Projects and Users
Creating a project
Before you can start recording a usability test you will need to set up a project and the testing session on Silverback. When you first open Silverback you will see the welcome screen.
To create a new project, click the ‘+ New Project’ button at the top of the Projects panel. Enter the name of your new project and click ‘OK’
You’ll now be able to see the project selected in the projects panel on the left.
Creating a Session
Now you’ve set up your project, you can set up sessions for each usability test.
To do this, click the ‘+ New Session’ button at the top of the session panel. This will open the session panel. Here you can add the name of your testing subject and any notes you wish to make about this test. You can export these notes along with your session later. This panel also shows an iSight preview, this allows you to adjust the framing to make sure your testing subject is in the correct place for filming. There is also an audio preview to ensure you are capturing sound correctly.
You’re now ready to start recording. Simply press the ‘Start Session’ button to do this. Or you can add further testing sessions so that they’re all set up in advance of your tests.
