Uploading to the Web
Getting Started
Note: To upload your gallery to the web, you will need some web space (on-line storage). Many ISPs (Internet Service Providers) give their users a limited amount of web space with their dial-up or broadband account. If not you will need to find a web hosting company to host your gallery. We recommend MacDock web hosting.
Depending on who provides your web space you will either need to use a dedicated FTP client such as Fetch or Transmit or use a web based form to upload your gallery's files.
Process
Create your gallery by dragging pictures to InstantGallery.
Customize the gallery to your tastes.
Tip: If you have a limited amount of web space to upload your gallery to, keep an eye on the file size of the gallery in InstantGallery's status bar. You can decrease the overall space used by reducing the JPEG quality setting in the Advanced Settings panel.
Publish the gallery to a folder on your Mac.
Locate and open the gallery folder you published, inside will be one or more HTML files, a CSS stylesheet and several subfolders (pages, thumbnails and images).
Launch your FTP client.
Tip: Need an FTP client? There are many available for the Mac, both free and shareware. Click here to find one. Mac OS X includes a command line client if you're confident using the terminal. We recommend Panic's Transmit.
Connect to your web hosting company's or ISPs FTP server – see the documentation provided with your FTP client if you’re unsure how.
Locate the directory on your web server where you want to upload your new gallery or create a directory in which to upload the gallery files.
Drag the contents of the gallery folder into your chosen directory on the web server.
Test your gallery by visiting the web address of your web hosting account, followed by the name of the directory into which you placed the gallery files.
For example: If you uploaded your gallery into a directory called ‘gallery’ at the root level of your web space account (‘/’, ‘/public_html’ or similar) then the address would be something like this: http://www.mywebsite.com/gallery
