VMT Icon  When Maintenance is Due

This pane displays the selected vehicles and tasks based on the filtering options selected.  The filtering options are explained below.

The Mechanics:
  1. Use the popups to choose a vehicle and task( also known as  service task )
  2. Pick one of the three filtering options using the radio buttons to the right of the popups.
  3. Press the Show button to display the maintenance matching the selected options.
VMT searches for qualifying maintenance( based on Vehicle, Task and button selected ),  and shows the next projected maintenance date and next maintenance miles ( or kilometers ). These results are shown in the tabular area at the bottom of the window.  If the calculated next maintenance dates ( shown as "Next Maint Date" in the tabular area ) are in the past or equal to today’s date, the date(s) is colored red to warn of potential overdue maintenance.

The three(3) filtering options:

In addition to filtering based on the chosen vehicle and task,  the radio buttons provide three filtering options:

(Filtering Option 1) Only Last/Most Recent Task
Only the last ( i.e. most recent ) service task performed is shown. For example, if the Ford Taurus vehicle and oil change task are selected, only the last( i.e. most recent ) oil change for the Ford Taurus is shown. The other Ford Taurus oil changes prior to the last are not shown.

(Filtering Option 2) All Items for a Task
All the maintenance items for a given vehicle/task are shown. For example, if the Ford Taurus and oil change were selected for vehicle and task, than all the oil changes recorded in the data base for this vehicle would be shown.

(Filtering Option 3) Only OverDue Tasks
Displays maintenance when the calculated next maintenance date is today or older.  Every item listed would have a  red-colored next maintenance date indicating it is overdue

OPTIONAL FEATURE: is available if CCNX is installed on the same machine. This feature allows the VMT user to establish a reminder within CCNX.

Right Click ( or Control click ) To Add Reminders For Future Service Task
Control clicking a service task allows a reminder to be added to CCNX ( another application by this developer that is separately licensed ). After a reminder is added, the task's Next Maintenance Date will be colored blue. Removing a reminder is the same process and the date returns to black-colored text. In CCNX a daynote( for the next maintenance date )  and a corresponding reminder for a week prior to the due date are added. Reminder notification, along with corresponding note, is managed completely by CCNX.

Since reminders are managed by CCNX, here are some things to note:
  1. CCNX must be running to add or remove a VMT reminder
  2. When the reminder date arrives, CCNX provides the reminder notification, and so it must be running.
  3. VMT reminders should be added and removed only via VMT. This allows VMT to label tasks as having a reminder or not.
  4. A corallory to #3 is if CCNX is used to remove a VMT reminder ( i.e. by entering CCNX and deleting the daynote ), VMT doesn't know about it and still thinks a reminder exists for that task.
  5. The blue label for the maintenance date returns to black when the reminder is either removed or the date is no longer in the future ( CCNX will keep reminding regardless because that is how is handles reminders ).
