Create Your Work Sessions

Once you\u2019re in the app, the first thing to do is create new work sessions. You can set up TCP/IP telnet, SSH, or RS-232 connections easily. Just provide the hostname and turn on the feature that helps AlphaCom reconnect automatically if needed.

Setting Up Your Connection

The next steps involve choosing your Telnet port and terminal type. Plus, there's an option to set an auto-activity minute timer which simulates network traffic—pretty cool, right?

Diving into Modem Connections

If you want to connect via modem, it’s slightly trickier but totally doable! Simply type in the telephone number for the computer you want to reach. Don’t forget those prefixes like ‘1’ for long-distance calls or ‘9’ if your phone system requires it.

Selecting Ports Made Easy

You’ll also need to pick your modem or COM port from a list. If you're unsure about which COM port is being used by your modem, don’t worry; it's shown in Control!

You can launch AlphaCom right from your web browser too! When you create new instances there, they’ll automatically connect to the specified hostname and port—no extra effort needed.
