What is Antarctica For Linux?

Antarctica

Antarctica is a cool Murribex mod that features a humanoid-osx-black Metacity. I tweaked it myself, inspired by the awesome Islander VS by Krosavcheg.

What is GNOME?

GNOME is an international project aimed at building a complete desktop environment. Think of it as the graphical user interface that sits atop an operating system, and guess what? It's all from free software!

This project covers everything from software development frameworks to selecting apps for your desktop. Plus, it takes care of launching apps, handling files, and managing windows and tasks.

The Connection with GNU Project

GNOME is part of the GNU Project and works with various Unix-like operating systems, especially Linux. It even plays nice with Java Desktop System in Solaris!

The name used to mean GNU Network Object Model Environment, but we don’t really use that anymore. What’s important is that GNOME focuses heavily on simplicity and usability. It’s all about making things “just work.” So if you're looking for something user-friendly in your Linux experience, check out Antarctica for Linux here: Download Antarctica!
