Description

ascii-image-converter

Do you love hanging out in the command line or Terminal? Are you into ASCII art? If you answered yes to both, then you'll probably have a blast with ascii-image-converter.

What is ascii-image-converter?

This handy little tool is all about turning images into cool ASCII art right from your Terminal. It’s written in Go and it takes any image you throw at it and spits out an ASCII version.

Best Images for Conversion

Now, keep in mind that it works best with images that have clear shapes and defined edges. So, don’t expect it to make a great ASCII version of your face or avatar—those details just get lost!

Supported Image Formats

The app can handle different image formats like JPEG, JPG, PNG, BMP, WEBP, TIFF, and TIF. Once you've got it installed, converting an image is super simple! Just use this command: ascii-image-converter [path_to_your_image]. You can even convert images from the web by using the URL: ascii-image-converter [URL_of_said_image].

Braille Mode & Features

A fun feature is its Braille mode! This lets you print images as Braille patterns instead of just plain ASCII. It also has some other cool options like:

  • --dither: Makes Braille art more visible by applying dithering.

  • --color: Shows the ASCII art in the original colors of your image.

  • --width and --height: Adjusts the output size.

  • --negative:, --grayscale:, and more!
