AXIS

AXIS is a super sleek user interface designed for EMC, and it comes packed with cool features like preview and backplot. It’s mostly built using Python, with the user interface created through Tk and OpenGL. If you're looking for something that looks modern and works well, AXIS is a great choice!

Keystroke Compatibility

The AXIS project aims to be pretty much keystroke-compatible with xemc and mini, making it easier for users who are already familiar with those interfaces.

About the Developers

This awesome tool was developed by Jeff Epler and Chris Radek. Plus, it's available under the GNU General Public License, which means you can use it freely!

Future Updates: AXIS 1.1 Release

Right now, we're working hard to get ready for the AXIS 1.1 release. We’re inviting anyone interested in helping out with development—whether that's finding bugs, adding new features, or ensuring it stays compatible with EMC2.

Compatibility Issues

Please note that AXIS isn't compatible with emc1 HEAD at this time due to some changes in the interpreter that just don’t mesh well. The big issue is a new function called GET_EXTERNAL_RS274NGC_INI_DATA, which isn’t implemented in AXIS yet. There might be some other issues related to “subroutine” support too.

If anyone out there uses emc1 HEAD, we would love your help! Without a community patch, we can’t support that version.

What’s New in This Release:

• The backplot updates every 10ms even if the redraw rate is slower!


• You can now change the colors of the plot area via the X Resource Database.


• If you need to stop opening a file, just hit ESC!


• A ton of other enhancements and bug fixes are included too!
