Description
BASH History Suggest Box FOR LINUX
BASH History Suggest Box (previously known as BASH Command History Completion) is an open source command-line software written in C and designed to improve the Bash command completion from history functionality of a Linux Terminal.
Also known as HSTR, BASH History Suggest Box has been engineered in such a way that it makes the command completion functionality in Bash a lot easier to use, as well as much faster than using the CTRL+R key combination.
Think of BASH History Suggest Box as a drop-in replacement to the default Bash history functionality that can be accessed with the CTRL+R keyboard shortcut, allowing users to manage the command history, as well as to bookmark your favorite commands. To better understand how the software works, please take a look at the following video here.
The program has been tested with the Arch Linux, Debian, Linux Mint, as well as with the Ubuntu 12.10, 13.04, 13.10, and 14.04 LTS Linux operating systems. It has also been ported to the Mac OS X operating system, and detailed configuration options are provided on the official homepage.
As expected, the software is written in the C programming language and it's available for download as a universal sources archive, which allows the user to optimize the application for his/her computer/operating system. A pre-built binary package is also available for download, but it is only supported on 64-bit hardware platforms.
