What is BlueProximity FOR LINUX?

BlueProximity

BlueProximity is a cool project that adds extra security to your desktop. How does it work? Well, it detects your Bluetooth devices, like your mobile phone, and keeps track of how close they are to your computer. If you step away and the device gets too far (there's no exact meter measurement), it automatically locks your screen after a set time. You can also set it to run any other command you want!

How It Unlocks Your Desktop

When you're back near your computer, it magically unlocks itself if you're within the right distance for a certain amount of time! And again, you can choose other commands for this action too.

Requirements for BlueProximity

If you want to use BlueProximity, here’s what you’ll need:

  • GTK+ 2.10

  • Python 2.5

  • pyGTK

  • bluez-utils (like hcitool, rfcomm)

  • bluez

  • pybluez

  • python-configobj

What's New in This Release?

This version is a beta release that gets ready for 1.2.6. Here are some new features:

  • You can now detect multiple devices!

  • A few minor bugs have been fixed.

  • The code has been cleaned up a bit.

  • The logging feature has been improved.

  • If some action commands were misbehaving before, they should be working fine now!
