What is Bookup FOR LINUX?

Bookup FOR LINUX

Product Description

Note-taking apps are still very popular, especially cloud-based ones that offer lots of customization options, as well as nifty collaboration and integration features. Some of the best note-taking apps out there also offer support for Markdown. Bookup is one such application, a simple and practical note-taking application designed mostly for GNOME environments (it's a GTK4 app). The short answer is - because Notes-up is not widely available for non-Elementary OS users. Notes-up is one of the best note-taking apps for Linux that also offers Markdown support, but it's mostly reserved for Elementary OS. Hence, the whole point of Bookup is to offer GNOME users a similarly stylish and functional note-taking application that makes good use of the Markdown syntax. Currently, Bookup is only decent, in the sense that it's still a very young project and that there's still a lot of work to be done. When compared to Notes-up, especially, the app feels somewhat underwhelming. At the time of this writing, apart from offering a nice GTK4 GUI, the app allows you to work with multiple notebooks (used to organize notes), the ability ot organize notes with section navigation (in a tree-like structure), and support for Markdown. In the Editing mode, the app offers neat markdown syntax highlighting, while the Preview mode does exactly what it says on the tin. According to the project's GitLab repository, we can expect a lot of good additions and changes meant to make Bookup just as good as Notes-up. These include the ability to reorder sections/pages using drag and drop, tag notes, export notes to PDF and Markdown, a built-in Markdown cheat-sheet (useful for beginners), and a spell check feature. If you like the design of Notes-up and you want something similar for Ubuntu or other GNOME-based distros, then Bookup is definitely worth checking out.
