BrazilFW

BrazilFW is a super handy open-source Linux operating system that can turn your old computer into a fast and powerful firewall or router. It comes from the Coyote Linux family, which means it's built to detect network cards automatically. Plus, it supports older hardware and large storage drives, making it a perfect fit for those vintage machines.

Easy Installation and Setup

The BrazilFW project offers Live CD ISO images that work with both 64-bit (amd64) and 32-bit (i586) systems, whether they support PAE or not. Getting started is easy since you can configure it through a user-friendly web-based administration interface. No complicated setups here!

Hybrid ISO Images

One cool thing about BrazilFW is that all three of its ISO images are hybrid. This means you can use them on CD discs or USB flash drives! Just grab some CD/DVD burning software to write the ISO for your computer's architecture onto a CD, or use UNetbootin to put it on a USB stick.

Booting Up Your System

Once you boot the ISO image from your computer's BIOS using either a CD or USB thumb drive, you'll see a boot menu pop up. This menu lets you choose single or multi-CPU configurations and even perform memory diagnostics if you've got multiple processors.

Logging In

After the Live CD boots up, you'll land on a shell prompt. Here's where you'll log in using the username "root" and the password "root." For remote access to your router, it's best to use an SSH (Secure Shell) client connected on port 22. To get to the web interface, just type in the address shown on your shell prompt into any web browser.
