Description
BWBar
BWBar is a handy little program that shows you how much bandwidth you're using. It's got both text and graphical displays, making it easy to see what's happening with your internet connection. Right now, it's only available for Linux users.
How to Compile BWBar
If you want to get started with BWBar, compiling it is pretty simple! Just follow these steps:
.\/configure\nmake
Running BWBar
Once you've compiled the program, you'll need to create a script to run it. Here’s what you should include in your script:
#!/bin/sh -\ncd /home/httpd/html/ubar\nbwbar eth0 1.5 &
This script does a couple of things:
- It changes the directory to where you want the output files saved (in this case, /home/httpd/html/ubar).
- The command bwbar eth0 1.5 & runs the program using the network interface eth0, assuming you're on a 1.5 Mbit/s connection.
Why Use BWBar?
If you're curious about your internet speed and usage, BWBar can be super helpful! It gives you real-time data so you can monitor how much bandwidth you're using at any given moment.
