CabPack

CabPack is a handy tool to keep your files safe by archiving them. This compression utility helps you create cabinet files with just a few simple steps. If you're new to this, no worries! Everything you need is in one window, making it super easy to navigate, even if some settings might feel a bit tricky at first.

Easy to Use Interface

When you fire up CabPack, it prompts you to choose the source folder or file and where you want it saved. You can pick between two compression types: MSZIP and LZX. Also, don’t forget to decide how much memory for compression you'll need and whether or not you want to include subfolders.

Flexible Options for CAB Files

There’s an optional space where you can specify where to copy your setup files. Plus, there’s another panel for adjusting the size of your CAB file. You can select from sizes like the classic 1.44 MB floppy disk, the slightly bigger 1.68 MB option, or even go for the larger 100 MB ZIP disk.

Name Your File and Choose Your Extractor

Before hitting that create button, make sure to name your cabinet file and choose between a 16-bit or 32-bit extractor. The great news? Compression happens really fast! However, since there isn’t a help file included in CabPack, we suggest double-checking all your options before diving in.

Performance on Older Systems

During our tests, we noticed some minor slowdowns here and there but nothing too concerning. So if you have an older system, don’t hesitate to give CabPack a whirl; it works smoothly on most Windows versions—including good old Windows 7!
