Description

Cameractrls

Cameractrls is a handy tool that makes setting up your webcam on Linux super easy. Even though many Linux distributions have good support for webcams now, having a utility like this can really help you fine-tune things.

What is Cameractrls?

This open-source GTK utility is written in Python and lets you configure all sorts of settings for your computer or laptop's webcam. Whether it’s the built-in camera or a third-party one, Cameractrls has got you covered!

Easy-to-Use Interface

The app features a clean graphical interface (GUI) where you can adjust camera exposure, white balance, brightness, contrast, and even more advanced options like power line frequency. It's pretty user-friendly!

V4L2 Controls & Extensions

One cool thing about Cameractrls is its ability to set V4L2 controls and its extensibility with non-standard controls. It currently has several useful extensions like:

  • Logitech Extension: Adjust LED mode and frequency.

  • Kiyo Pro Extension: Manage HDR settings, field of view (FoV), autofocus (AF) mode, and more.

  • Systemd Extension: Save and restore controls using the Systemd path + service.

Main Sections of the App

Cameractrls breaks down into three main sections: Basic, Advanced, and Capture. In the Basic section, you can tweak brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness levels—basically everything you’d find in the default Cheese app on Ubuntu.

Aperture Priority vs Manual Mode

You also get to choose between two submodes: Aperture Priority Mode for automatic adjustments or Manual Mode for full control over exposure, backlight compensation, white balance adjustments, and toggling HDR.

Dive Into Advanced Settings

If you're feeling adventurous, check out the Advanced settings page! Here you can select power line frequency options and adjust focus modes along with Pan, Tilt, Zoom configurations.

Your Go-To Webcam Companion

Cameractrls is not just well-designed but also incredibly useful for anyone dealing with webcams on Linux. It's definitely worth trying out if you're looking to improve your webcam experience! For more details or to download Cameractrls, check out SoftPas!
