Description

Celeste

Celeste is a cool Linux app that’s built on Rclone. Its main job is to be a handy GUI file synchronization tool for your system.

Why Choose Celeste?

The best thing about Celeste is its compatibility with almost all the popular cloud storage services you can think of, like Dropbox, Google Drive (though it has some hiccups), Nextcloud, Owncloud, pCloud, and WebDAV. This makes it super versatile!

Syncing Made Easy

With Celeste, you can synchronize files and folders to and from multiple cloud providers at the same time. You won’t need to depend on official apps or third-party ones anymore. It’s all right there in one place!

The Power of Rclone

Since it’s based on Rclone, you’re getting a ton of features like file syncing, backup options, drive mounting, and even encryption. Plus, it's open-source and has been around long enough to prove its worth.

Features Galore!

So what does Celeste offer? Well, you get two-way sync, options for handling local and remote file updates, the ability to exclude certain files and folders from syncing—and as mentioned earlier—it connects to all those cloud providers at once.

A Good Look on Linux

The app looks pretty nice on most modern Linux distros too! Thanks to its GTK4/Libadwaita GUI design, it feels right at home in your setup. And guess what? It’s written in Rust! That means it runs fast and responds quickly.

A Work in Progress

Now, let’s be honest: during testing, Celeste didn’t feel completely polished yet. The login process could be smoother, and adding more cloud providers sometimes made the app freeze up.

Keep Your Data Safe

This is understandable since the app is still in Alpha development. If you decide to give it a shot, make sure you back up your data first—better safe than sorry!

The Future Looks Bright

While Celeste might not be perfect now, there’s definitely potential here. With some more time and effort put into it, we’re confident that it could become one of the best Rclone options out there for Linux users looking to synchronize files across multiple cloud services at once.
