Description
Console Server
Console Server is a handy Command Line tool created for advanced computer users who need to access remote COM ports just like they would on their own computers. It’s similar to using software like HyperTerminal.
How Console Server Works
The way this application operates is pretty straightforward. It starts a server that lets users connect to the computer where Console Server is running. Once you make that connection, you can work with COM ports from afar!
What’s in the Package?
The package you download comes with more than just the server executable. You’ll also find a bunch of documents that you can set up to pull data like serial ports and IP addresses directly from them.
Getting Started with Commands
Once you're connected through telnet, you'll see several commands pop up on your screen. This helps you get used to what the app can do really fast! For example:
- If you type “?” it will pull up the help section.
- You can use the “update” command to refresh port info straight from your file.
- If you're curious about port details, just type “info.”
- Need to open or close ports? Use “open” and “close” commands.
- You can even toggle ECHO mode on or off by typing echo in the console!
This setup makes it super easy for anyone familiar with command lines to jump right in and start using it effectively.
