Description
CPU Frequency Governor Selector
CPU Frequency Governor Selector is a handy script that lets you pick which governor controls your CPU's speed. It's pretty straightforward!
What is it?
This tool is mainly designed to serve as an alternative to the GNOME CPU frequency applet. Now, it might not have all the bells and whistles of GNOME, but it's lightweight and works well with simpler window managers.
How to Set It Up
Before diving in, make sure you've run this command: sudo chmod +s /usr/bin/cpufreq-selector
. This step allows any user to change the CPU speed. If you're not cool with that and want to keep it secure, just run the script as root.
Selecting a Governor
When you choose a governor using this script, it'll apply that setting across all your CPUs—up to four of them! I set it up for quad-core processors because that's pretty common these days. But hey, if you've got fewer than four CPUs like my dual-core setup, you should be good to go!
Got More CPUs?
If you're working with more than four CPUs and face any issues or need support for additional cores, just reach out! I'm happy to help out and see what we can do.
