Debian From Scratch is pretty cool because it's actually two systems rolled into one!

What Does It Do?

First off, you get a bootable CD that helps you repair your Linux systems or install Debian. And then there's the program that makes those CDs for you. Pretty neat, right?

• Bootable CD: It features the GNU Grub bootloader, which lets you boot hard disk partitions even if there's no bootloader on your hard drive.


• File System Support: You'll find kernel and userland support for all major filesystems like ext2, ext3, JFS, XFS, ReiserFS, FAT, VFAT, NTFS, ISO9660, CramFS, tmpfs, and more! Plus userland support for Reiser4.


• Disk Layout Schemes: It works with different schemes like standard partitioning and Logical Volume Manager 2 (LVM2), as well as software RAID.
