Description

dwdiff

dwdiff is a cool open-source command-line tool that acts like a front-end for the diff program. What makes it special? Well, it works at the word level instead of just line by line. So, if you're looking for something different from wdiff, this is your go-to choice! Plus, you can even choose what counts as whitespace.

Features of dwdiff

This software lets you use an optional list of characters that can be considered delimiters. It's mostly compatible with the wdiff utility, but there are some exceptions like --autopager and --terminal options. With dwdiff's command-line options, you can customize what gets printed and change up the markers.

Customizing Your Output

Some of the neat features include specifying delimiters or using punctuation as delimiters. You can also choose which whitespace characters to consider. Want to read your input as output from diff? No problem! You can even display deleted or inserted blocks of empty lines and override the markers when needed.

More Command-Line Options

With dwdiff, you have so many options! You can skip printing deleted or inserted words and even add line numbers to your output. It also lets you see how many lines of context there are. Plus, it has a color mode to make things easier on the eyes!

Advanced Features

There are other great features too! For instance, you can allow close changes to group together and use bold or overstriking text in your output. You get to pick between best, fast, and normal algorithms depending on what you need.

Installation Made Easy

If you're ready to give dwdiff a try, installation is straightforward! Just download the latest archive from Softpedia, extract it, open a terminal window, navigate to where you've extracted the files, and run ‘./configure && make’ to set things up. Finally, execute ‘make install’ as root to get it fully installed across your system!

Supported Platforms

This software is written entirely in C and works on both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms. Users have reported success across various GNU/Linux platforms!
