Description

EDB (Evan's Debugger)

EDB (Evan's Debugger) is a super handy, open-source, and free tool that any developer can use as a binary mode debugger. It’s designed to be portable, which means you can take it anywhere! The main goal of this project is to make it just as easy to use as OllyDbg. But what makes EDB stand out is its plugin architecture, letting you quickly add new features and boost its functionality.

Cool Features of EDB

This software comes packed with a bunch of great features. First off, it has a user-friendly and modern interface that’s straightforward and feature-rich. You get all the standard debugging tools you need, like running, breaking, stepping over, and stepping into your code. Plus, it supports conditional breakpoints, basic instruction analysis, and even lets you generate and import symbol maps for better management.

Memory Management Made Easy

One of the standout features is the ability to view and dump memory regions easily. With the tabbed data dump view, you can keep an eye on multiple memory views at once—how cool is that? It makes switching between them super simple!

Powerful Plugin System

The debugging engine in EDB runs on plugins too! Some awesome plugins you might find useful include hardware breakpoints, reference finder tools, code bookmarks, heap block enumeration, basic ROP instruction searches, string searching options for binary strings, breakpoint management tools, an environment variable viewer, open file enumeration capabilities—wow!

Cross-Platform Compatibility

This nifty tool is written in C++ and uses the Qt GUI toolkit for its graphics. Originally made for Linux users, EDB can also be easily adapted for other operating systems like Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X thanks to the Qt SDK. Oh yeah—and it supports both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures too!
