Description

EdIt!

EdIt! is a really cool, mouse-friendly replacement for DOS's EDIT command. It’s perfect for working with BAT and text files that are under 64k, especially when you’re on networks. No more running around to update user files!

Key Features of EdIt!

Here are some highlights:

  • Save time updating files across LANs.

  • Supports Microsoft and LANtastic networks (like NET USE, LNET, LNET_MGR).

  • You can open multiple files and groups of files easily—wildcards are supported too!

  • Has a windowed interface created using Borland's Turbo Vision.

  • Comes with mouse support!

  • It’s super small—only 135k total! That’s about one-third the size of DOS's EDIT and QBASIC combined, one-fourth the size of Boxer 5.0, and one-tenth the size of VED 3.31!

  • Fast performance as it’s written in Turbo Pascal and assembler instead of BASIC.

  • No need for QBASIC.EXE to run like DOS's EDIT does.

  • Includes word wrap features.

  • You can reformat paragraphs and documents easily.

  • Variable right margin and tab stop settings make formatting a breeze.

  • Auto-indent mode helps keep your text neat.

  • You can save your desktop setup, including all open files!

  • Shelves to DOS while using as little as 240 bytes of memory.

  • Supports both 28- and 43/50-line video modes.

  • You can convert text from Unix and Macintosh formats too!

  • The text can even be centered if you need it to be.

  • You have the ability to jump to specific line numbers or preset locations in documents.

  • The undo feature is handy if you make a mistake!

  • Easily search & replace what you need in your documents.

  • Your clipboard supports cut, copy, and paste functions seamlessly.
