EDWinXP

EDWinXP is a handy Windows app designed for making PCB (printed circuit board) designs and simulating circuits. This software is built for professionals and packs a bunch of tools that help you automate your electronic product designs.

Features of EDWinXP

The program comes with support for schematic captures, Specctra and Maxroute interfaces, plus a Standard and Arizona Layout Autorouter. It also includes schematics and layout autoplacer, along with full libraries among other cool features!

User Interface Overview

When you first set it up, you'll see a pretty basic interface. This might throw off new users since it’s not the flashiest around. But don’t worry! You can start a new project by setting up the materials editor using info from an external database or just create one yourself right there.

Circuit Design Rules

Next up, you can dive into setting up your circuit design rules. This includes choosing routing layers, direction, via and trace rules, clearances, autorouter options, locked edits, layout component placements, and nets. Plus, there’s a library editor where you can play around with settings related to manufacturers, technology types, external index codes, package types and more!

Edit Symbols & Save Projects

This is also where you can edit symbols using tools like a ruler or magnifier. You have control over colors and styles too! Want to create a new padstack? Go right ahead! Once you've got everything ready to go, you can save your project in ASCII format and even protect it with a password.

Performance Check

The tool ran smoothly on the latest version of Windows during our tests—no compatibility issues at all! Sure, the interface could use some sprucing up since it looks a bit old-fashioned. But overall, EDWinXP comes packed with solid options to help you nail those PCB designs and circuit simulations!
