Elastic is a cool tool for making spring-like animations for apps, widgets, and GUIs. Creating these animations usually means dealing with some pretty complex software, which can be a real headache. But don't worry! With Elastic, you can whip up amazing animations without all that fuss.
Elastic is a Linux-only application built on GTK/libadwaita. It’s designed to help you create and export spring physics-based animations for your projects with just a few clicks of your mouse. Super easy, right?
The app has two main sections that are pretty self-explanatory: Basic and Interactive. While both sections let you control things like Damping Ratio, Mass, Stiffness, and Epsilon, they serve slightly different purposes. The Basic section is for simpler animations where you can control the initial velocity using a slider. On the flip side, the Interactive section lets you manually create that velocity by dragging a handle and watching it bounce back with those springy physics.
One of the coolest features of Elastic is its coding section at the bottom of the app. This part lets you easily view and copy code snippets straight to your clipboard. You can export your projects in languages like C, JS, Python, Rust, or Vala. How handy is that?
You also get to preview translations, rotations, and scaling transformations of your animations. If you're into details, there's even an option to see the animation curve and duration on a graph! Plus, you can toggle the damping effect on or off from the Settings section.
Since Elastic is still quite new, it’s expected to get some great updates in the future. But even now, it's super usable! So if you're looking for an easy-to-use app for building animations on Linux, check out Elastic. You won’t regret it!
